Chrome Plated ABS Axle Covers
Though
these covers are made from the more economical material
ABS,
the
high-quality finish of these super-tough covers will not disappoint you.
These covers are currently available in two
different types (sizes).
Installation is
super easy! No special
tools are required. (Should take you about a minute.)
These covers come in two different
types:
Type 1:
designed to fit Sportster (2003-2007), Softail, and some of the older
Dyna and Fatboy(the new ones use a larger axle diameter.)
If your specific model
and year was not mentioned above, please take special note of the following: It is
actually quite a challenge to list all the Harley models these covers will fit.
There have been many variations made from year to year of the components that
make up the front axle assembly. (for
example: The '07 Dyna has a larger round axle than some of the
older Dyna models.) So in
addition to the specific bikes mentioned above, several
of the Harley lines use similar engineering in the front axle assembly.
Therefore, we offer
the following photos and dimensions so you can more easily determine whether or
not these covers will fit both sides of your front axle.
Type 1 cover measurements: 1 1/4" diameter by 1" long.
If the Hex
nut on the left side measures 3/4" across (in other words, a 3/4" wrench fits
it, then the cover will fit.
If the round axle measures a hair under 7/8" diameter,
and
sticks off the fork no more than about 1 inch,
the
cover will fit fine.
Installation of Type 1 covers:
Just slip it over the hex nut (left side) or axle tube (right side) and tighten the set screw with the included
wrench. (Covers use stainless steel
self-locking set screws to securely hold them to the front axle.)
Type 2:
designed to fit Street Glide
and other models that use a larger axle diameter.
