The two tone horn trumpets (540Hz
& 660Hz) are made of
chrome plated steel. They are also obnoxiously loud, producing 120 decibels of
'wake up the half-asleep motorist' sound. (Approx. 4 times louder than the stock
horn.) The horn kit comes with optional
chrome front deflectors to keep dirt and bugs out of the horns. The mini high volume/ low pressure air compressor is housed in a black, protective ABS
enclosure. There is no need for an air-storage tank with this design. The
black-colored air lines are covered in chrome conduit (or they can be left
uncovered). The kit includes everything, including a custom wiring harness
and detailed 'step by step' instruction manual. You use your original stock horn
button to activate the new horns. Installing these is incredibly easy!
Why you
need air horns. There are two basic driving scenarios that injure/ kill many
bikers:
Scenario no. 1:
A
motorist is waiting to turn onto the highway you are traveling on. You are
coming at them, but you can see that their head is never turned towards your
direction. (They are not paying attention to the traffic.) It is likely that
since they are 'half-asleep' or talking on their cell phone, they just plain
don't notice you. So, now very worried, about 100 feet from the intersection
you give a little 'toot' of your 'beep ... beep' factory horn, and of course
they can't hear it over the radio or their cell conversation. So they pull
out in front of you in your lane and ,best case, you lay your bike down on
the highway and the ambulance takes you away with massive amounts of 'road
rash', and a couple of broken bones. Worst case, your trashed bike gets
passed along to your family as part of your last will.
- A
two second burst of powerful sound waves from our Dual Air Horns, and
they'll probably drop their cell phone as they jerk their head around to see
you approaching the intersection.
Scenario no. 2:
You
are traveling on a multi-lane highway, and are in the left lane overtaking a
slow moving car. A few feet from their rear bumper, the car suddenly begins
to come into your lane! Once again, you press your horn button, the factory
'beep ... beep' sounds, but they continue coming over into your lane. Lucky
for you that you have good brakes, and 'sensed' that they were going to do
this. Well sometimes the 'sixth sense' doesn't kick in and the biker get
pushed off the highway with terrible consequences.
- One warning 'blast' from our Dual Air Horns,
and they'll think that a semi is about to run them over!
Bottom line: If you don't buy our Dual Air Horn Kit, then buy from
someone else!
Having loud horns is an absolute necessity if you share the road with
other cars. If you live out in the country, and your nearest neighbor is 20
miles away, well that's a different circumstance.

horns:

the sound clip does not represent the 'loudness' of the horns, only their 'tone')
The
kit will be available in three different mounting options.
Below are photos
of Mounting Option 1.
Here are some photos of the kit installed
on a VT1100 Shadow Sabre:
Our 1/8" thick steel, black
powder coated bracket, with horn trumpets and compressor attached to it, mounts
to the lower engine bolt.
If you prefer, you can
leave off the chrome tube covers, which leaves the black air tubing visible.
The uncovered tubing blends in with the bike.
You may also switch the
positions of the horn trumpets, if you prefer the longer trumpet on top.
Below
are photos of Mounting Option 2, which is designed for those who have
already installed the CruiserFX Fork Mount Driving Lights.
This kit includes special brackets that attach
the horn trumpets to your CruiserFX Driving Light Brackets. The air
compressor is mounted to the radiator cover bolt via a custom bracket.
Below
are photos of Mounting Option 3, which is designed for use with the
CruiserFX Fork Mount brackets which can also be used to mount driving
lights.
This kit includes special hardware that allows
the horn trumpets to be attached to the top of the CruiserFX Fork Mount
brackets (which must be purchased separately). The air compressor is mounted
to the radiator cover bolt via a custom bracket.
