Sabre Safe
(for Honda Shadow VT1100)
What
in the world is the 'Sabre Safe'.
In a
few words, it is a water-resistant, welded-steel, lockable storage box, and is
almost unnoticeable! It is painted with a very tough high-gloss black powder
coat. We call it the 'Sabre Safe', but
it is actually made for all of the stock Shadow VT1100 bikes.

This item will fit the following

The 'Safe'
measures 6" wide at base, 4" tall, and 8" deep for a total storage capacity
of 133 cubic inches! |
 |
 |
What
are some of the outstanding features of the 'Sabre Safe'?
 |
It is
water-resistant. A double-rubber seal keeps out water and dust. The lock is
weather-proof, preventing water and dirt from entering the lock mechanism.
|
 |
It is
tough. Made from 16 gauge and 1/8" steel, all seams are continuously welded.
Gloss-black powder coating gives it a very durable finish that closely matches
the frame paint.
|
 |
It is
secure. Other than using the key to unlock it (comes with two keys.), you
would need a sledge hammer, or a large crow bar to open it up.
|
 |
It is
almost invisible. Because of where it is located, as you approach the bike, you
don't notice it. If a person does look towards that area, all they see is a
black box. It looks like it is part of the frame or something. Maybe it's an oil
cooler?
|
 |
It
utilizes a special vibration-absorbing, mounting system.
|
 |
After
the initial installation procedure, the 'safe' can be removed from the bike, or
re-installed in less than a minute!
|
 |
Installation is super easy! No special tools are required. Should take you
about 10 minutes for initial installation.
|
Who
did we have in mind when we designed the 'Sabre Safe' ?
 |
Riders
who don't like the look of bags on their bikes, but wish they had a place to put
small stuff.

Product questions
 |
Is
the 'Sabre Safe' water-proof? We took our bike with the 'Sabre Safe' mounted
to a local carwash, and used their high-pressure sprayer to wash and wax the
entire bike. When finished we opened the 'safe' and there was not a drop of
water inside. The double-rubber seal design should keep out water under all
normal circumstances. Of course, there may be some 'abnormal' riders who might
drive their ride into a lake at 90 mph, so we will not commit to using the
phrase "water-proof" in describing the 'safe'.
|
 |
Is
it burglar proof? It would probably be easier to steal the entire bike than
try to open the 'safe' without a key.
|
 |
Is it
invisible? Not really, but if you don't know it is there, your attention is not
drawn towards it. Since it is recessed in behind the drive shaft, and because it
is black like the frame you just don't notice it. In addition, the lock is
covered by a removable rubber 'flap', so even the lock can't draw attention.
|
 |
How
much weight will it hold? We filled the 'safe' with 5 pounds of rock and
drove it for miles over the bumpiest roads we could find, and although the rider
was 'rattled', the 'safe' and its contents were fine.
|
 |
Does this mean I have to carry
around an extra key? Not necessarily. Some of our
customers have purchased a magnetic "hide-a-key" box. There are various places on your
bike where you could hide the key to your safe.
