This universal version will work with all 12V motorcycles, cars, and trucks. However, if your vehicle has "lamp-out" sensors that monitor the condition of your brake light bulbs, it may falsely report that your brake light is out.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that rear impact collisions result in more injuries than any other type of motor vehicle accident. If the driver reacted to your braking only one second faster, 90% of all rear-end collisions could be prevented. Brake Alert by CruiserFX could save your life.

Most state drivers handbooks recommend that you flash your brakes when slowing down. The Brake Alert automatically flashes the brake light to grab the attention of drivers who are following you allowing you to retain full focus on your driving. When installed, your motorcycle (or car) brake light becomes significantly more noticeable.

CruiserFX is happy to have secured a contract with the manufacturer, which allows us to offer this piece of high-tech electronics at a very reasonable price.

Why buy the CruiserFX Brake Alert and not a competitor's similar product?

Here are a few reasons:

1. The Brake Alert has a fully adjustable flash pattern. You can set the number and duration of the flashes.

(We set the default to 4 quick flashes before the brake light comes on steady.)

2. The Brake Alert does not continue to repeat the flashing pattern. Some states do not permit continuous flashing brake lights. (In other words, you are likely to get a ticket if you use a brake light modulator that continues to repeat the flashing pattern.)

The Brake Alert modulator only produces the flashing pattern once for each time you activate the brakes.

3. The Brake Alert works with either standard bulbs or LED lights.

4. The Brake Alert is half the size of many competing modulators which gives you more places to install it.

5. The Brake Alert comes with a One Year Limited Warrantee. (If it fails to operate properly during this time period, simply return it for replacement.)

Installation is easy! For installing the "Universal" version, all you need is a test-light to identify your brake light wire. Then install in line with the wire leading to the brake light. Note: A printed copy of the installation instructions is included with each item. We make them available ahead of time to allow you to know the installation procedure before you buy.

The Brake Alert is very small.

It measures 1-7/8" Long x 1-1/2" Tall x 1/2" Thick.

This compact size allows you to place it just about anywhere. The wire leads are 7" long. The electronics case is completely sealed, making the unit weather resistant.

The unit can be installed anywhere along the wire leading to the brake light. On many motorcycles this wire is easy to get to under the seat. Or you may install it inside the tail light assembly.

In the photo to the right you can see the two flash adjustment controls. The upper one controls the total duration of the flash effect. The lower one controls the length of each flash. This allows you to adjust it to your preferred flashing pattern (or leave it at the factory default setting which is 4 quick flashes before the light comes on steady.)

Customer comments:

Video of the Brake Alert in Action

Got one of these for my '06 Sabre last week. A piece of cake to put in with the plug-n-play! 20 minutes tops for installation even with taking the seat off and putting it back on. The adjustment for the flash speed and length of time that it flashes is neat too! A very good buy and well worth the money. Actually a fairly inexpensive piece of safety equipment when it comes down to it. If it saves you from being rear ended that one time that some "cager" wasn't paying attention it would be well worth it at twice the price!

Got the brake alert in the mail, super simple install, no tools needed - truly plug and play. I turned the flash cycle back to just three quick flashes. Time to hit the street with it.

Using the "Honda Plug and Play" version (item #221) in other motorcycles not specifically mentioned:
Besides the "plug and play" kit for Honda, we are continuing to study other motorcycles and hope to come out with many more "plug and play" versions for these models. In the meantime, if you take a quick look at your bike, you may discover that the kit for the Honda VT750 and VT1100 will work on your bike. (If this happens in your case, please let us know of your "discovery" so we may share it with others.)

Though any motorcycle can use the "universal" kit, it is very possible that your model, though not specifically listed above, will work with the "Plug and Play" version.

The following photos and information will help you determine this.

Here is a close-up photo of part of the wiring harness found beneath the seat.

One of the key aspects of the "plug and play" version, is the wire that leads to the rear brake lamp. With the "verified" Honda models, this wire is green with a yellow stripe. The "male" end of the wire can be disconnected from the "female" end (covered by a clear plastic "boot" in the photo) by carefully pulling them apart. (see the detailed install instructions.)

Then it is simply a matter of plugging in the Brake Alert cables and attaching the ground wire (according to the instructions) as seen in the photo to the right.

If your particular model (especially if a Honda) has the same color-coded plug-in wire (green with a yellow stripe), then you can almost certainly use the "plug and play" kit which is a little easier and quicker to install than the "universal" kit.
