How well does the paint of the
Gloss Black Flush Gas Cap match the Sabre factory black paint?
The colors appear to be
identical. This does not necessarily mean that they are identical, but to
our eye they are, at least, extremely similar. We are certain you will not
be disappointed if you make this purchase.
(Of course, if for some reason
you were disappointed, you can always return the product for a full refund.)

Can the Flush Gas Cap be
adapted to use the bike ignition key?
No, it cannot. This does not
necessarily mean that you must now carry around an extra key. Some of our
customers have purchased a magnetic "hide-a-key" box. There are various
places on your bike where you could hide the key to your gas cap. Many
places are within reach even when you are seated on your bike.

Who makes the CruiserFX
neck covers? (I haven't seen them for sale anywhere else.)
The reason you haven't seen
them for sale anywhere else is because we make them. They are a unique
product that we designed and have manufactured at a
precision metal shop
in New York. Not only are the neck covers unique to CruiserFX, but so are almost
all of the products we sell!

I've noticed that some of
your new chrome nut covers are made from ABS. What is this?

Are the fasteners used
to attach the Neck Covers and Pivot Covers going to last?
We understand this concern. We
have bought other products that use adhesive strips to secure the item, and a
few days after you install it, it falls off!
While designing this product,
we considered various methods for securing them to the bike. Initially we
evaluated Velcro brand fasteners. However, we found that even the
strongest version of Velcro, did not have the strength that would satisfy
us that the part would never come loose. Much research led us to the 3M
Company and their Dual Lock line of industrial fasteners. (Many
equipment manufactures have replaced screws and nuts with this fastener.) One
square inch of the Dual Lock fastener we use will support a load of about
25 pounds. Our Neck Covers are fastened using a 3 inch x 1 inch piece, which
gives it a pull-apart strength of about 75 pounds! (In other words, if you were
to try and pull it straight off the frame, you might need a friend to help you.
However, as the product instructions indicate, when you remove it, we recommend
pulling it apart at an angle, which decreases the amount of effort required to
separate the fastener.) The Pivot Covers use two pieces approx. 1 inch x 1 inch,
which, if you tried to pull it straight off the frame, would require a pull of
about 50 pounds!
Each half of the Dual Lock
fasteners attaches to the frame and the product via a high strength, outdoor
rated adhesive. When you follow the included installation procedure, after about
24 hours, the adhesive has reached its maximum bond strength, and if you were to
try and remove the fastener strip, you would destroy the fastener and the
adhesive layer would have to be scraped off the bike frame, (or you could use a
high-strength industrial solvent to weaken the adhesion. In our experience, you
actually have to struggle to peal up a corner of the strip, grab hold of it with
a pair of pliers, and pull with all your strength to try and get it off. We
would estimate that it requires about 100 pounds of pull, to attempt to break
the adhesive bond.

I ruined one of the fastener strips while installing the Pivot Cover. Can
I find some at a local store?
The Dual Lock fasteners
we use are a very specialized industrial type that cannot be bought at your
local hardware store. Though we have come across some of the 3M fasteners
in local stores, they do not sell the type we use. In order to obtain these, you
have to buy large spools from select 3M distributors. So if you don't want to
spend $150 for a spool, let us know and we'll send you a new piece (at no
charge).

I read the installation instructions for the
lower triple tree cover and notice you use adhesive tape to fasten it to the
bike. Isn't this kind of weak? I like my stuff bolted on!
Your concern is justified. I
myself have bought accessories for my car that came with adhesive tape and fell
off a day later. No worries mate! We use a special "industrial" adhesive
tape that you will not find at your local hardware store. In fact, the bond it
makes is so strong, that you almost have to use a crowbar to remove the cover
once it has been on for 24 hours.
